Mitchell Point Summer Camp

Mitchell Point Summer Camp provides a place where kids 7-14 years of age experience the outdoors through movement, team building, scientific inquiry, hands on learning, and exploration. This year we have 3 weeks available for 10-14 year olds and 4 weeks available for 7-10 year olds.

Each day of the week campers participate in two focused group activities as well as have individual free choice time. In addition to planned activities campers have time to eat, relax, socialize, explore, and build.

Each week a unique theme keeps returning campers challenged and inspired.

Special programming for 7-10 year olds allows young campers age-appropriate opportunities to learn, build and explore.

Gorge Retreat LLC is an 8 acre private property that overlooks the Columbia River, is surrounded by National Forest, and is 10 minutes from downtown Hood River. Campers have access to a large spring-fed fresh water pond for swimming, an 18 hole disc golf course, a wood working shop, a vegetable garden, a commercial-like kitchen, an art barn, private hiking and biking trails, spring-fed drinking water, and a ropes course in the forest with tree forts and zip lines.

There are individual and group challenges that will require problem solving and a positive attitude to succeed. All camp activities are cooperative and engaging. Participants will experience science and applied math throughout the week during instructional activities. They will build tree forts with hand and electric tools. They will also have an opportunity to create a meal in our fully equipped kitchen. Your child’s safety and wellbeing is important to us. All counselors are highly skilled outdoor educators, CPR and first aid certified.
