Founded in 1986 by Mike & Tassie, Mike’s Ice Cream has been a beloved family-run shop in the heart of Hood River for nearly four decades. Today, you’ll still find their children and grandchildren behind the counter, continuing the tradition with a smile and a scoop.
One of the sweetest parts of Mike’s is the legendary “IOU” system — a tradition that’s lasted 39 years. If you forget your cash, no worries. You can still enjoy your cone, and settle up later. Many IOUs even return by mail with heartfelt notes, a testament to the community spirit that makes this place special.
